China- my unknown
|| I TRAVELED THROUGH CHINA FOR A MONTH EXPLORING SICHUAN PROVINCE, HUNAN PROVINCE, SHANGHAI & BEIJING; 7 CITIES TOTAL WITH LOTS OF SPEED TRAINS, LOCAL & REGIONAL BUSES & TAXIS. SOLO, NO LANGUAGE, NO GOOGLE MAP, NO PLANS||
China was the last big unknown for me on my Asia backpacking trip. I ended up in China all alone for reasons that was not in my control. I was there trusting a friend or so I thought, and ended up being an absolute nightmare. So much so that I had to leave with my things without saying anything, despite having paid for my hotel room in advance. Ended up in a country all alone, where google maps do not work, most hotel booking sites we know do not work, even TikTok is different, no one has instagram, not being able to connect with people on language, social media, even phone number was very difficult because they use completely different apps, and completely relied on internet and my pre downloaded google translation app, which by the way did not always work!!
When I had to leave that so called nightmare of a “friend” on my 3rd morning there I was almost ready to leave China. I mean how could I possibly be there with everything I rely on when traveling isn’t reliable anymore. Then I thought, well I’m here so why not just see, can I possibly be here a bit just with what I’ve got: my gut feeling, love relationship with the universe, decent internet with T-Mobile, pre loaded Chinese simplified and traditional language on google translation. And let me tell you, the universe truly opened its arms to me. I thought I’d maybe stay a few more the days then leave BUT I ENDED UP STAYING A MONTH TRAVELING THROUGH SICHUAN PROVINCE, HUNAN PROVINCE, SHANGHAI & BEIJING. The people in China gave me so much love, experiences and are the reason I ended up staying that long. I’m truly grateful for this experience from the deepest part of my being.
In China, I learned that, at the end it truly was just me & my gut feeling and my faith in the higher power. With that in my arsenal, I’ll always be alright.
