What is Happiness?

💕Happiness, I think, is a series of small joyful moments that radiate together in your being.
🤍Early into this year (2023) my therapist told me, 2023 seems like a year of closing cycles for you. And she said, trust the process. I did not quite understand what she meant at that point. I was actually quite upset with her. While writing this in December 31st, 2023, I see it. I fully trust it.
🎒To sum it up simply, this year has been like a sunset for me. Even though I started on my dream trip of traveling through Asia for a year, it still feels like a sunset. These 4 months in Asia taught me to shed the traveler & embrace the long term backpacker.
🌅This year I experienced sunsets in my career to relationships that were not good for me to what I thought my life would look like. And they all truly came with a new sunrise. Every time I lost something big, honestly, I received something that’s better for me. I had to learn to grieve this year. Learn to see my gains, specially through the losses.
❤️‍🩹I want to leave with you the wisdom I found this year. Happiness is not about getting what you want in life, it’s about learning to deal with what you do get. Accept what you cannot change. Change what you can. And changes require sacrifices. But so does staying stagnant. Whatever your life may be, find joy in the little, everyday, mundane things.
✏️Lessons to take away: Find joy. Learn to let go. Find your light within. Life was meant to be lived, not just prepping to live someday. All emotions are good, even anger. Learning to regulate (not control) all emotions is a key life skill.
